Once again, Whip up.net showcases great ideas from clever crafters...like this card idea, found at zakka life.

I love nesting dolls, I have Russian blood running through my veins, my maternal grandparents were Russian Immigrants.

I may try this idea using the Snowman shape. Make melting snowmen, which would he what would happen soon after a snowman is made down here, should we happen to experience a "freak snow fall".

Quote Worth Saving

~~ Has Christ set you in the public places, do you have opportunity to hobnob and associate with political folks, people of position and power, decision makers? Has Christ set you in a place where unbelievers, atheists, and folks of different beliefs are regular visitors, or partakers with you in your work? Or are your family members sceptical and doubting your commitment to follow Christ is authentic and lasting? May today's Christian Quote be an encouragement to us all:

"My brethren, let me say, be like Christ at all times. Imitate Him in "Public". Most of us live in some sort of public capacity--many of us are called to work before our fellow-men everyday. We are watched; our words are caught; our lives are examined--taken to pieces. The eagle-eyed, argus eyed world observes everything we do, and sharp critics are upon us. Let us live the life of Christ in public. Let us take care that we exibit our Master, and not ourselves--so that we can say, "it is no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me." Charles Spurgeon

Hebrews 6:19

"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast,"

I love the description of HOPE as an anchor of the soul, in Hebrews 6:19. I gain understanding of what the Apostle Paul was saying, when I think an anchor cast over the side of a ship being rocked by waves, steadying, stabilizing, holding the vessel steadfast.

In Anchor of the Soul an online sermon on Hebrews 6:13-20, by Father James Thornton, of the Russian Orthodox Church in Los Angeles, CA. I located at the Orthodox Christian Information Center Website, we read,

"...despite the worst that this world may give us, we must keep our hope in God strong. We must keep "that vivid remembrance of God" and of His love and of His promises strong, like a huge anchor."

Know this about our cans of food...

Link to the Consumer Reports Page with info on BPA (Bisphenol A) found in foods due to the Epoxy lined cans we are purchasing. We need to seriously think about what we are using, and what we can do about it. If we can help change things, lets do it!

Bind Them On Your Wrist

I love this watch! Found it on Avon's site.

What an excellent idea, to wear the Commandments on the wrist. I looked up this instruction in the Holy Scriptures...Deuteronomy 11:18 "So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders." New Living Translation
This one is on my Christmas list, for certain!!!

I'm A Friend of Oakleaf Church

I've added a feed in my side list of the sermons from Oakleaf Church in Cartersville Georgia. I used to hang out with the folks there while I lived in Cartersville with my daughter. I miss the gals from my bible study group, so I am glad to keep up with the sermons. Oakleaf also streams their services live from the House of Rock ~~online.
Known for their generosity, intriguing sermons, and approachable (and enjoyable) services, they are making a positive footprint/leafprint in their community for Christ.

21 Day Daniel Fast

Yesterday the church I attend has announced a coorporate, 21 day Daniel Fast. I have decided to participate in this fast and will be posting recipes on Gypsy Pie's Kitchen for anyone who is interested in having a few ideas for Daniel Fast meals. I would appreciate any suggestions, as well. I have a few links for further information on this type of fast. Simply put by Pastor Eddie, "no sweets, no meats".
This is the only mention I will make of this fast time, other than including recipes and pictures of foods on my Kitchen blog.

God bless~ to all who are participating.

Would You Walk By?

I love this story, it is a true story. About a famous violinist playing his Stradivarius violin in a busy Washington DC subway station. The Washington Post won a Pulitzer Prize for it in 2007. It was an experiment and is facinating to read about and think about how you would react.
Here is the link to the article...Pearls Before Breakfast by Gene Weingarten.

They Went Home Barefoot!

A shout out to Oakleaf Church in Cartersville Georgia. I love this video of theirs. People of God, we should always be ready, we never know what might be asked of us, and bless God, may we be willing to do it!

Garden Anywhere, Just Garden

I had to laugh, because my daughter pointed out my photos of the French Quarter houses had gardens or lots of container plants. That is true, and growing things do catch my eye. I am blessed to see lovely garden spaces, and try to have my own, even now in our tiny town home space...I have a garden growing. My "little piece of earth" from the Heavenly Father gives me peace of mind and blesses my heart. Here is a picture of my "little piece of earth."

French Quarter New Orleans

Spent a Saturday in August in the French Quarter with my hubby and son and his wife. We took a walking tour with my hubby who spent his youth in this part of town, and went to grammer school at the ancient St. Marys on Chartres Street. Sadly nostalgic for him, though, the changes abound, he would rather remember this neighborhood, as it was.
